ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: WEEK 3

On to week three! I'm happy to report that I finally ordered the wallpaper so I may actually finish this challenge! Thank you, everyone, who voted on my Instagram stories! It was a down the middle split between the two papers I posted. I decided to go with the Farrow & Ball wallpaper I had initially selected.

This week has been all about wallpaper prep. There are a few crucial steps to take before installing it:

ONE: make sure your walls have no holes, cracks, or imperfections. Plaster and sand anything that could make your wallpaper look bumpy when applied.

TWO: apply wallpaper sizing. Some sources say this is an optional step, but I think it makes life easier. Sizing gives the walls a slippery texture which allows the wallpaper to move easily on the wall as you position it. Applying wallpaper sizing is just like rolling on paint.

THREE: paint the trim. Once you've wallpapered, you're not going to want to wield a paintbrush around the room. God forbid you splatter paint on your new paper.

In other news, I found a desk on Craigslist which works well in the room. It's not too wide and has some excellent storage.

I've given up on finding the perfect lounge chair before the challenge finishes. I love this chair from Anthropologie, but it won't arrive until mid-December. I rather wait for the right chair, then rush something to finish the challenge on time.

The other thing I've been working on is finding accessories for the room. I highly suggested you check out my Pinterest board. The products and inspiration on the board are for the entire house, not just the library.

If you're not up to date on my progress thus far, take a look at week one and week two. I also urge you all to get inspired by all of the talented sponsored and guests bloggers participating in the One Room Challenge!
